Top Picnic Spots in Wokingham
We all love a picnic with family and friends - it's great fun for kids, it's much cheaper than eating out and the kids can run around as soon as they hav finished! If you are looking for the best picnic spots in Wokingham, then look no further! We have gathered together all of our local favourites.
Cantley Park
Cantley Park is just outside of Wokingham Town Centre. There is parking available at RG40 5QG (charges my apply) or its just a short walk from the town centre. There is lots of space here so it’s a great spot for a big picnic in the park.
There is a small playground and tennis courts available to hire.
California Country Park
California Country Park is a 40 acre park with some beautiful walking routes and plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching. There are benches located around the lake as well as a grassed area near Jacksons. Families can also enjoy eating their picnics within the brand new playground area.

Dinton Pastures Country Park
Dinton Pastures is located between Wokingham and Reading and is well known for its 335 acres of countryside, fishing lakes, and bird watching areas. This tranquil countryside park has stunning views and has many flat areas where you can settle into your picnic and enjoy the open air.
There are plenty of picnic spots around the lake and loads of kiddie friendly activities at Dinton Pastures, they have a huge playground, adventure golf, water sports and lots more.

Joel Park
Opposite the Holt School, this is a great picnic spots with the kids. There is free on street parking (Jubilee Avenue) and a large grass park, perfect for a picnic rug and a catch up with pals.
There is a brilliant playground for kids too.
FBC (Finchampstead Baptist Church)
A popular place for young families to enjoy a picnic, there is a large area of grass as well as picnic tables by the cafe. These are reserved for people buying their food from the cafe but they do have a great picnic selection!
The playground here is popular with the little kids to burn off energy after their lunch.

Elms Field Wokingham
Elms Field is a newish park in the heart of Wokingham on the Elms Field development. The huge playground is really popular with families.
If you forget your picnic then Brown Bag, Starbucks and Aldi are really close by.

Thames Valley Park
Thames Valley Park Nature Reserve is at the end of the A329M and offers lots of wildlife spotting opportunities, otters have even been spotted here!
The wetland habitat is home to 40 different species of birds, dragonflies and wildflowers. Here you can enjoy a picnic in this peaceful setting next to the Thames. Postcode is RG6 1PU
Foxes Den, Binfield
One of our favourite after school spots. There are 2 playareas here, a basket ball hoop, tennis courts and a large field. The Foxes Den community café is open during the day serving light lunches and snacks, so this is another ideal spot if you don’t want to make your own picnic.
There is free parking and toilet facilities at the Foxes Den. Postcode RG42 4EW.
Lily Hill Park
Lily Hill Park is a 23-hectare park just outside of Bracknell Town and home to the Englands longest picnic bench! With space for 30 people, you could bring plenty of friends and enjoy a huge picnic!

South Hill Park
Another beautiful green space in Bracknell. Plenty of free parking and loads of space to enjoy a picnic.
There is a lake to feed the ducks, several playgrounds and a café on site if you would rather buy your picnic bits when you arrive.

Locks Ride
Whats better than a picnic in the park in the summer? A picnic in the park with a splash pad!!
It’s a short drive from Wokingham , 15-20minutes but its so worth it. There is an ice cream hut and toilet facilities, a brilliant playground with sand and loads of grass to enjoy a picnic. During the summer it does get very busy so do arrive early.

Woodford Park, Woodley
Woodford Park is a large green space located next to Woodford Park Leisure Centre which offers extensive sports facilities and plenty of space to enjoy a picnic.
